Support Groups

We are told in Galatians 6:2 to bear each other’s burdens. When difficult situations occur in the lives of fellow believers, Christians should be prepared to help them through their difficult circumstances, whether they are grieving for a loved one, rebuilding their lives after a painful divorce, suffering through cancer or on the road to recovery from alcoholism. These Groups have been established to provide an environment of support and encouragement nurtured by experienced caring leaders.

DivorceCare

Are you experiencing pain from the realities of divorce or separation?  You don’t have to go through it alone.  A new 13-week support group using video tapes will be forming on January 8.  Topics include anger, depression, loneliness, a Biblical perspective, kid care, forgiveness, reconciliation, moving on, and more.

For more information and the meeting time for this group contact Don Geisinger at 619.462.5211 x 108 or dgeisinger@christlamesa.org

DivorceCare for Kids...

...is a special group to help children heal from the hurt caused by the separation or divorce of their parents. At our weekly DC4K group, kids make friends with other kids who understand how they feel and the things they are going through because of the divorce of their parents.

Best of all, children will learn how God’s love can strengthen them and help turn tears to hope and joy!

Our DC4K group meets weekly. We combine games, crafts, activities, music, and DVD dramas to create a fun atmosphere where children feel comfortable and accepted. They look forward to each time their DC4K “family” gets together.

Parents are encouraged to be involved with their children as the children go through DC4K. Each parent will receive a weekly “Parent Page,” describing what the child has learned, offering tips to strengthen the parent-child relationship, and creating stronger bonds in the single-parent family.
DC4K follows the same schedule and age-appropriate themes as the adult DivorceCare program, allowing parents and children to progress through the healing process together, providing a springboard for meaningful discussions.

DC4K is nondenominational and features Biblical teaching to help children recover from the hurt of separation and divorce.

GriefShare

Grief is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of being human. It is the cost of loving someone, and the process by which we work through the loss of that loved one. The goal of the grieving process is to cope with the loss and reestablish healthy relationships. Only God can turn our mourning into joy (Jeremiah 31:13).

GriefShare is a program designed to move people through the grieving process. The 13-week program features videotapes that explain what is going on in the life of someone who loses a spouse or family member and how to deal with the loss from a Christian perspective. There is also time for reflection on the loss.
