Development Classes
Membership Class
This class is designed to instruct, orient, and
assimilate those who desire to know more
about Christianity and the Lutheran
beliefs. It is very important class
for those who are interested
in becoming members of
Christ Lutheran Church.
Communicant membership
involves a basic understanding
and acceptance of the Christian
faith as set forth in the Scriptures and
the Lutheran Confessions. It is also a
willing commitment to the body of believers
and the governing policies at Christ Lutheran
Church. The topics covered in the class are:
Salvation, Baptism, Lord’s Supper, and the DNA of
Christ Lutheran Church.
Maturity Class
This is the second of Christ Lutheran’s “Development Classes.” It is designed to help the members recognize the four basic habits, Reading the Bible, Prayer, Giving, and Fellowship, that are necessary for every Christian in order to grow in spiritual maturity (Ephesians 4:13). The focus will be on equipping you with the skills you need to begin these habits and the tools you need to continue these habits. Spiritual Maturity is not automatic. It is a lifelong process and it takes discipline (1 Timothy 4:7).
Ministry Class
The focus of the Ministry Class is to discover God’s purpose for your life, how he has S.H.A.P.E.D. you for living in these six areas:
- S is for Spiritual Gifts, a special set of abilities God has given you to share His love and serve others.
- H is for Heart and the special passions God has given you to glorify Him on earth.
- A is for Abilities, those set of talents God gave you at birth, and He wants you to use to make an impact.
- P is for Personality, the way God hard-wired you to see life and live your life.
- E is for Experiences, those parts of your past, both positive and painful, which God uses to teach us and develop us as His children.
- D is for Developing, the ongoing process of growth and development as the above 5 areas interact with our lives each day and in each situation.
Missions Class
The goal of this class is to equip every believer to personally get involved in carrying out a simple evangelistic strategy the way God has wired you to share the Good News. By the end of the course, every participant should be ready, able, and motivated to do the following:
- Discover which of the 7 evangelism styles with which God has equipped you.
- Build and deepen relationships with people outside the family of God.
- Discuss spiritual topics and articulate the message of the gospel.
- Invite friends and acquaintances to events and activities that will help them accept Christ as their savior.
Magnification Class
A six-week course on worship, beginning with the Jewish rites in the Bible and progressing through the early Christian church, the Reformation and up through present day. This class will examine historical foundations for the structure and shape of worship and include an exploration of Lutheran Hymnody.
